Outreach MORE Team Project (City of Las Vegas)

The Las Vegas Rescue Mission is looking for 5 candidates for Full-Time Outreach Staff Members funded by City of Las Vegas. This position is a grant funded position with a current contract for 1 year.  The City is partnering with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) and City of Las Vegas Marshals to create five (5) multi-agency homeless outreach teams (The MORE Project) to proactively engage the homeless population throughout the City. Each of the five (5) teams will work with law enforcement officers working ten (10) hour shifts, four (4) days a week that provide combined coverage from Monday through Sunday.

• Proactively engage within specified area with the homeless and to educate them on ways to mitigate homeless issues in their area.
• Focus on services to homeless clients who suffer from issues or have needs included in but not limited to the following categories:
  • Mental/Behavioral Health
  • Veterans Services
  • Chronic Homelessness
  • Ambulatory Detox/Withdrawal Management, Addictions, or Addictive Behavior
  • Families with Children
  • Diversion, Rapid Rehousing, Transitional Housing, and Housing Assessments
• Refer clients to the identified teams should they refuse services.
• Enter data (HMIS, Survey 123, and Workforce) to capture:
  • Number of encounters with homeless clients
  • Number of clients who accepted a service

Members will work on the streets for four (4) days a week in 8-hour shifts, bringing the resources, programs, and contacts of their agencies to homeless individuals living on the street. A maximum of two (2) hours a day may be spent by MORE members off the street, doing administrative or other Company work. Outreach efforts will provide clients with the opportunity to connect to a variety of programs and resources to address individual needs while leveraging their own Company resources to provide greater wrap-around services to individuals who accept assistance.

Qualifications

• Previous Outreach experience Preferred
• Previous experience working with vulnerable populations preferred
• Previous experience working with families preferred
• Spanish Speaking an asset
• In Recovery for a minimum of 2 years
• Active Driver’s License with clean driving history
• Previous experience operating passenger van type vehicles preferred

• Excellent verbal, written interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Demonstrates behaviors aligned with LVRM employment policies and standards.

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, offering a competitive benefit package and paid vacation. Salary is $23.00 per hour.
