The Romans Road: A Path to Hope

Did you know there’s a simple way to walk someone through the message of the gospel using just a few verses from the book of Romans?

It’s called the Romans Road. It lays out the big picture of God’s love, our need for grace, and how anyone, no matter their story, can begin a relationship with Jesus. It’s straightforward, biblical, and has been used for decades to help people understand the heart of the gospel in a clear and relatable way.

Step 1: We’ve All Fallen Short
Romans 3:23 (NLT): “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” We all carry things—regrets, shame, guilt, pain. You’re not alone in that. Every person on this earth, no matter their story or background, has fallen short of the life God designed us for. This is not about judgment—it’s about honesty.

Step 2: Sin Has a Cost, But God Offers a Gift
Romans 6:23 (NLT): “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Sin separates us from God, but He doesn’t leave us there. Instead of the death we deserve, God offers a free gift: a new life, eternal life, through His Son, Jesus.

Step 3: Jesus Came for You—Just As You Are
Romans 5:8 (NLT): “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” You don’t have to get your life together first. God loved you in your lowest moment. He sent Jesus to rescue you, not after you cleaned up, but while you were still struggling.

Step 4: Your Response—Believe and Receive
Romans 10:9 (NLT): “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” This is not about religion—it’s about the relationship. If you believe in your heart and speak it out in trust, God will meet you right where you are. It’s a simple step of faith, but it changes everything.

Step 5: You Are Not Disqualified
Romans 10:13 (NLT) “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” No matter your past, your mistakes, your doubts, or your pain—everyone includes you. If you call out to Him, Jesus will respond. Always.

What Now?
You don’t have to have all the answers. You don’t need to have it all figured out! Jesus is not looking for perfect people—He’s looking for surrendered hearts. If you’re ready to take that step, pray something like this from your heart: “Jesus, I believe You love me. I believe You died for me. I need You in my life. Please forgive me, make me new, and help me walk with You from this day forward.”

You are seen. You are loved. You are invited.
Whether you’ve been hurt by religion, ignored by the world, or feel like you’ve gone too far, Jesus sees you. He welcomes you. He died for you. And He is alive today, offering you a new beginning.
